  • During the quarter century commencing 1969 Northern Ireland experienced political and sectarian-motivated violence, resulting in the lawless killing of over three thousand people, ten times that number were injured, and millions of pounds worth of damage done to property and business. In this DMin project a Church of Ireland bishop examines the long-term historical background to such events under four main headings of politics, economics, religion and education. There is then evaluated a variety of ways by which bridges of mutual understanding and respect can be built across the deep divisions and distrusts within Northern Ireland society.
