Abstrait

A survey of the 117 Des Moines Area Religious Council member congregations was made to determine the extent of community outreach services provided by congregations. The research was undertaken in response to the challenge by local, state and national government officials to religious bodies who were encouraged to give their time and money to meet the needs of people which were no longer met through tax dollars. A list of 98 different outreach services was identified. An analysis of denominational and ecumenically sponsored outreach programs is included in the research along with a script to a slide/tape presentation which was produced to illustrate the research findings.
