  • Moving toward diversity: a case study of Roberts Memorial United Methodist Church Alexandria, Virginia
Abstrait
  • 'How does a traditionally African American United Methodist Church in a changing demographic context become more diverse in its membership, and what role does leadership play in the process?' The author argued that the church must adjust to its new demographic context and begin to reflect the changing demographics in its membership in order to survive and to reflect the inclusive nature of God's kingdom. Also, the author believes the pastor is the major change agent in leading a congregation toward membership diversity. The case study method was employed by the author. Her findings showed that diversity takes time to become a permanent reality, but it is possible.
