  • This project proposes to improve cross-cultural awareness and adaptability of clinical pastoral education students who are the primary providers of pastoral care for patients, families, and staff in a consortium of three hospitals. The project uses a self-assessment instrument based on the Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory to measure emotional resilience, flexibility and openness, perceptual acuity, and personal autonomy among these students. As the students become aware of needed skills and their own strengths and limitations, they are better prepared to provide pastoral care in cross-cultural contexts.
