  • Small group ministry as a tool for community building is well established among evangelical churches, but some churches have resisted their use. This project introduces small group ministry to Grace Baptist Church of Cedarville, Ohio through the development and evaluation of a pilot program. This congregation's conservative roots, circumstances, and culture required strong biblical and theological evidence of the validity of small groups. A small group model was adopted and tested in a thirteen week pilot program. The model aimed to strengthen biblical community and spiritual formation. Interviews and surveys measured effectiveness, with adjustments for church-wide implementation suggested.
