Statistics show that, following accidents and illness, suicide is the third leading cause of death in the Army. The Army leadership perceived suicide prevention training as a means of dealing with the problem. The Army Chaplaincy is selected as the proponent of suicide prevention training. Since human life is a precious gift of God and suicide is an irrational act, suicide prevention is a life-saving ministry. The purpose of this project is to design a suicide prevention training program to be implemented through the battalion chaplains in an engineer brigade.
