  • This thesis-project supplies preachers with a strategy to name the dysfunction of racism in the context of Sunday preaching and to bring healing to faith communities. To assess the level of effectiveness of this preaching strategy, the author conducted a survey. The responses from the limited survey suggest that the prophetic imagination is a useful tool that heightens awareness of racial dysfunction and brings people to conversion and action. This thesis project contributes to the larger conversation about racial dysfunction in faith communities and provides a strategy to challenge the prevailing racial culture.
