  • God created mankind in his own image and entrusted him with abilities to be shared with others while living in community. Scripture records extended families and clans living together showing respect, appreciation and love for each one's contribution regardless of sex, age, or position. Our current century has experienced a dramatic change in lifestyle, resulting in a dearth of births and a noticeable increase in longevity in the life of seniors. The demographic change has institutions within society struggling to cope with possible solutions. The local church in particular has experienced an aging congregation which of necessity demands restructuring in programs. The author, himself a senior, has researched statistics, church policies, and interviewed church leaders that have prepared for the change. He suggests possible solutions for effective church ministry to seniors in the community as well as those in the local church.
