Abstract
  • The author examined how a lack of space had enabled a congregation to think small and how the addition of new space changes its self-understanding. In light of the doctrine of the Incarnation, the author shows how appropriate space allows a church to witness more faithfully to Christ's presence and better carry on Christ's ministries of worship, education, fellowship, outreach and service. Using surveys, the author assessed the surrounding community's felt needs and researched the congregation's self-image using theological and sociological typologies. He guided the church to work toward implementing specific new programs utilizing its new space.
