  • Confirmation in the Latin Rite Catholic Church has been declared a sacrament without a theology. The common practices of infant baptism, first eucharist for children, and confirmation of teens has produced this void. This study examines the religious experience of persons who while fulfilling these first two scenarios do not choose to celebrate confirmation until adulthood. Interviews and surveys reveal that these individuals experience conversion and confess discipleship within the institutional church. These persons' experiences support the historical, systematic and canonical teaching of the church. This unique perspective offers new insights into the theology and pastoral praxis of the sacrament.
