  • The thesis of this dissertation is that there are observable strategies and methods that rural churches can use to successfully transition authority from one generation of lay leaders to another. Through three case studies, strategies and methods were discovered. What was surprising to the researcher is that they have discovered and used them unintentionally. They intentionally applied biblical instruction in their relationships, but they did not do this intentionally to transition generational leadership. What can be deduced is that though the generational transfer of leadership was unintentional, it was successful. Therefore, other churches might do it intentionally.
