Abstract
  • This act of ministry presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of the training of lay shepherds for small groups. An understanding of the three primary meanings for the noun koinonia is presented. Since koinonia or Christian community is experienced as we share our lives together in groups, several elements of group dynamics are developed, along with related matters of biblical small groups. Finally, practical issues in starting biblical small groups are discussed. The result of the study is a manual for training lay shepherds for HOME growth groups presented as a six-week small group process.
