Abstracto

As church leaders, we tend to have narrow frames of reference regarding changes in the world around us that impact the ways we prepare congregations for the future. In contrast, the academic field of Foresight and Futures Studies takes a much broader approach to decision-making that can lead to the future we hope will come to fruition. This research project will explore the initial steps necessary to broaden congregational perspectives around what the future church could look like. Using qualitative methods, I will argue that incorporating foresight tools and processes into ministry efforts can be highly beneficial to the church.
