- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to investigate the problems encountered by the Third World immigrants in America and to determine how such problems directly or indirectly, positively or negatively, influenced their Christian faith as the immigrants attempted to adapt to the American culture. The project focused on immigrants who had become related to The International Church of the Metroplex (TICOM). Separate practicum discussion groups of immigrants and Americans and a random survey indicated that even though they had had negative experiences, especially of rejection from white churches, the immigrants had kept their Christian faith intact. The practicum also revealed that it was a lack of contact and interaction between the Americans and the Third World immigrants which was responsible for their fear and mistrust of one another. The project concluded that a dialogue between the two groups might bring about mutual understanding.
