  • The purpose of this project was to develop a comprehensive Command Religious Program for a ship deployed at sea. The project consisted of ministry during a Western Pacific Deployment aboard USS Shiloh (CG-67) from August 17, 2000, until February 17, 2001. The project leader developed a program consisting of worship, religious education, community outreach, counseling, and deck-plate ministry for a mixed gendered crew that consisted of 430 sailors, chief petty officers, and commissioned officers. As a result, the crew experienced the free exercise of religion and a community of sharing. More importantly, the crew was offered the opportunity for personal spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with God.
