  • This model offers steps in developing a comprehensive small group ministry in order to build community and make disciples at Christ Church United Methodist (Charleston, West Virginia). It includes a congregational survey, materials on recruitment and leadership training, promotion, monthly leader support, evaluation, and ongoing outreach to new persons. Nine small groups were formed from support to study. They were designed to run on a nine-month cycle with the option of disbanding, starting new groups, or reuniting in the fall. Results show that the groups need continual support and promotion to keep their focus and develop future leaders.
