Abstract
  • Defining the call of the Christian and moving toward practical application in the use of that call this study examined the church's theology and practice. Exploring Luther's thought on `the calls' critiquing the modern ecumenical dialogues on the role of the laity and surveying periodical literature since 1979 for motivational directions provided background. A five-part congregational-based educational series was designed to present Bible, doctrine, Luther's writings and ecumenical dialogues to stimulate a desire to live the faith. Participants in 'Equipping the Saints!' reacted positively to the study experience finding the wrestling with theology an encouragement to explore their sense of vocation.
