  • Homebound Christians often feel 'disconnected' or abandoned/forgotten by the church and need a homebound Communion ministry to symbolize the offering of congregational 'community' both with God and the body of faith. Drawing upon the theological and historical Lord's Supper/Communion interpretation and New Testament doctrine of 'the priesthood of believers' and Baptist doctrine of 'local church autonomy,' the author develops a successful ongoing lay homebound communion ministry which effectively promotes intergenerational congregational understanding and interaction. Training in pastoral care and homebound communion ministry are developed, described and evaluated. Appendices include: congregational communion/commissioning service; eight home communion services; reporting/communication instruments; training materials.
