  • The church can help adult members to confront death anxiety in the context of Christian community and faith, and free persons for more abundant living and faithful ministry. Death anxiety is reviewed in the literature and critically examined in the approaches of Becker, Lifton, and Yalom; and from a biblical-theological perspective. A curriculum was developed for adult education on death and dying. The conclusions of the project are: 1) the Christian community considers the subject of death and mortality both valuable and worthwhile; 2) churches can provide processes for persons to confront their anxiety about death; and 3) churches can and do shape members' attitudes toward death.
