  • In this ministry project, the project director developed a deacon ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church of Anchorage, Alaska, a fifty year old church that never had a deacon body. A four-week sermon series on the purpose and importance of a deacon ministry served as the first chief component of the project. Second, the director led the church in the process of nominating, electing, and ordaining deacons to serve Immanuel Baptist Church. Third, after a diaconate was established, the project director provided a training course for the deacons. The members of Immanuel Baptist Church elected and ordained three deacons to serve.
