  • Jesus' most radical act was to show hospitality to sinners and marginalized persons. Being recognized by him as persons of value and God-given identity enabled these nonpersons to see themselves as beloved children of God. Since the church often has failed in welcoming the stranger: the homeless, homosexuals, and other marginalized people, a Bible Study was developed that emphasized the lost spiritual discipline of hospitality. This paper examines the impact that the practice of hospitality had on the participants and showed a significant increase in the acceptance of strangers, thus, empowering them to welcome and minister to the stranger.
