The pastor is involved with many different tasks in the ministry of a local church, but understanding the biblical concept of disciple making undergirds all that he does. There is little understanding of the strategic need for a phased program of disciple making. Some churches are behind in this matter in that the church makes no arrangement for a planned, cohesive, well-coordinated ministry of taking people from the basic truths of the gospel and moves them on in the growing process. Pastors can have effective ministry as disciple makers and as change agents in the local church to help alleviate this problem. There are people in the local church who have never moved beyond simple belief in Jesus Christ; one result being a void in lay-workers and stunted spiritual lives. This major project is designed to demonstrate practically how a pastor can effectively lead a men's small group basic discipleship course. In doing so, the pastor not only serves the local church, but his Lord as well.
