  • The project studies the relationship between the theology of liberation, as presented in Latin America, and the existential realities of the Hispanic church in the United States. The concept of base communities is used to test the readiness of a Hispanic church for ministry from a liberation perspective, and a couple of community-identified needs are chosen as testing grounds for the church's readiness for a theology of liberation. The study concludes that the Latin American theology of liberation should be modified and used by Hispanic churches for ministry in the United States.
