Abstract
  • The central thesis of this doctoral project is the effect of narrative preaching of Daniel 1-6 on a local congregation. The author researched the premise that narrative preaching is the only way to effectively preach the gospel today. He composed six sermons based on Daniel 1-6 and patterned them after the elements of narrative composition and careful exegesis of the text itself. He explored the views of various authors pertaining to inspiration, authority of Scripture, and illumination on the hearer. He concluded that a balanced use of all genres in the preaching of the gospel is needed.
