  • The project focused upon devising a model of ministry centering upon the involvement and acceptability of the minister (and thus the Christian community) in the therapeutic and redemptive work being carried out in Alcoholics Anonymous. The project was carried out in the setting of a general hospital based alcoholic rehabilitation program. A group, led by a hospital chaplain, was set up to help patients work steps three, four, and five which are the spiritual core steps of Alcoholics Anonymous' twelve steps. The minister and the group work proved to be acceptable by and redemptive for the alcoholic patients.
