- The thesis presented was that clergy persons most likely will experience an increase in self-esteem when they submit reports of events of ministry for evaluation to peers in a longitudinal program. The vehicle for the evaluation was a case method study used in peer group settings. Assessment of change was primarily via use of the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire as per a pre-test evaluation of levels regarding self-esteem. Subject categories used were: 1) intelligence; 2) ego-strength; 3) self-acceptance; and 4) social image concern. For a public the size of the test groups, a mean change of 75 percent was deemed necessary to be significant. This change was achieved in regard to three of the four evaluation factors, and was slightly under forty-five percent on the fourth. These changes indicated an increase in self-esteem.
