Abstract
  • Believers in the first century possessed a compelling understanding of Christ, which inspired them to transform history. The initial church's understanding of Christ is encapsulated in passages scattered through the New Testament called Christological hymns. The project sought to discover whether a sermon series that unpacks and contextualizes the Christology found in these hymns will enhance college students' understanding of who Christ is, and why we serve him wholeheartedly. One key lesson learned was how rooting the doctrine of Christ in the Old Testament enabled believers to understand Jesus through sharing the same lens with first-century believers.
