  • This study sought to discover whether a congregation's member engagement and spiritual commitment levels might be improved by focusing on the strengths of the individual members in a church. In May 2010, the congregation took the Gallup ME25 survey. Case studies were conducted on churches that had made similar efforts. A resurvey in November 2011 occurred following efforts to focus on people's strengths. Meaningful increases were found on multiple items with many increased responses. Overall engagement of the congregation increased, while not-engaged and actively disengaged percentages decreased. The project shows that an intentional effort might increase engagement and commitment levels.
