  • This thesis grew out of the concern and the influence of fundamentalist preaching via television on members of Lutheran churches. The project included the teaching of a class on televangelism at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, Sask. The thesis begins with three hypothetical scenes of religious television in the days of Christ and His assumed reactions to it. The thesis consists of two parts. Part one includes historical and philosophical reasons for the use of religious programs on television. Part two presents summaries and a proposal for positive involvement for the ELCIC. The conclusion recommends a strategy for a Christian institute of communication on the campus of the University of Saskatchewan in conjunction with the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Emmanuel St Chad Anglican College, and St Andrew's College of the United Church of Canada.
