- Abstract
- This project posits a lack of unity and cohesion in many congregations due to lack of a unifying center. This disconnectedness can be overcome by allowing the Word of God to function as a center around which clergy and laity come together to plan sermons, worship, and ministry. This project experiments with sermon and worship planning in a retreat setting involving clergy and laity, with lectionary texts as a focus of activities. The result was a well-focused sermon series and improved coordination of worship experiences.
