- Abstract
- This project provides a viable ministry model for Christian churches that seek to engage homeless persons in effective relational ministries. Grounded in the biblical assertions that Christians are to be motivated by the commands to 'love your neighbor as yourself' (Lev 19:18; Luke 10:27) and to 'go and make disciples' (Matt 28:19), the model is built upon three essential concepts: (1) a biblical motive and method for helping the homeless; (2) a comprehensive team mentoring approach; and (3) the necessity of ongoing training and support provided by a local Christian homeless service organization. Each were taught and demonstrated to project participants during a ten-week classroom and field training experience.
