  • The gospel calls us to unity while parish life is challenged by pluralism and diversity. The author designed and conducted a process for a small group that incorporated practices of faith, explicit theological reflection and discussion of potentially divisive issues facing the Anglican Church of Canada. She sought to discover whether such a process strengthened unity and to explore the function of the ordained parish leader in the process. The phenomenological study provided insight into the complexity of unity and division at the parish level; the critical importance of ongoing Christian formation and practice of theological reflection; operative parish ecclesiology and affirmed a role for the parish leader in setting boundaries and guiding a process for reflection.
