  • This thesis deals with the use of biblical hermeneutics as a theoretical base for the healing of persons in crisis. The basis for a twentieth-century hermeneutic is explored through Barth's 'Epistle to the Romans,' in which he posits that the hermeneutical key to Paul's letter is 'krisis.' Included is an exploration of Charles Gerkin's works on hermeneutics in pastoral care with theological emphasis. Crises stories from six persons and a biblical story are analyzed in group session by the methods obtained from Gerkin. The results were that most group members realized a changing of their story that helped find healing.
