- The impact of pastoral retirement and transition on family, co-workers, and congregations is an issue for many churches. This project focused on transition models and two case studies that illustrate positive retirement strategies. The report asked, 'How well can we prepare for transition, retirement, or change so that it is a 'non-emergency'? What does good leadership look like in times of transition?' While the burden of leadership is on the incumbent pastor, education of key leadership is critical as churches seek to apply transition strategies to their own situations.
