- Abstract
- The thesis of this project is that the effectiveness and tenure of a pastor stems from his finding the right fit in ministry placement. The purpose of this project was the development of a procedural manual, which will enable pastors in the North American Baptist Conference (NABC) to gain insight into how a good ministry fit can be found. The research methodology entailed a series of interviews. The sample interviewed represented 12.8 percent of the overall number of pastors in the conference who had recently gone through pastoral transition. The project establishes eight phases of the transition process. The issues of each phase are detailed. The final section of the project is 'A Pastoral Transition Manual.' The completed manual enables the pastor to place a comprehensive profile in the data system of the NABC placement office, and addresses the issues the pastor will face in the process of change.
