Abstracto

The dissertation investigated the background, experience and attitudes of United Methodist clergy and laity in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church with respect to explicit faith healing. A 110-item questionnaire surveyed 239 clergy and 261 laity with a 66 percent overall return. Responses indicated that both clergy and laity are open to explicit faith healing within the church if approached from a rational, critical perspective. It appears that explicit faith healing should be a part of the church's ministry. Dissertation includes pastor's guide to introducing faith healing developed from results, document research and literature review.
