Abstract
  • The dissertation investigated the background, experience and attitudes of United Methodist clergy and laity in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church with respect to explicit faith healing. A 110-item questionnaire surveyed 239 clergy and 261 laity with a 66 percent overall return. Responses indicated that both clergy and laity are open to explicit faith healing within the church if approached from a rational, critical perspective. It appears that explicit faith healing should be a part of the church's ministry. Dissertation includes pastor's guide to introducing faith healing developed from results, document research and literature review.
