  • This project is a quantitative, objective analysis of the 16 most popular general homiletical trade and textbooks in use in America in 1983. The approach is as follows: First, the primary data are gathered through the use of a 'Homiletical Questionnaire' which surveyed 104 Protestant and Roman Catholic homiletics professors. Second, a primary quantitative analysis of the 16 most popular texts is performed by using a 'Homiletical Scorecard' with 261 headings. Third, a comparative analysis between what the homiletical professors perceive as the texts' weaknesses and what is actually in the texts (the primary quantitative analysis) is made and evaluated.
