  • This project examines the efficacy of AA as a culturally adaptable treatment of alcoholism among a target population. A review of the literature, with special emphasis on the spirituality of both AA and the population, tentatively concluded that adaptation was possible and advisable. A manual was developed to introduce Hispanic pastoral agents to the tenets of AA and was piloted on a group of ten such ministers. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis revealed both the possibility and advisability of adapting AA to the situation of the Catholic Mexican male community.
