  • This study is built upon an historical Baptist theology of the laity and demonstrates that the laity is a powerful resource for the education of seminarians. Results indicate that: lay people can be effectively engaged in theological reflection; lay training committees can be significant vehicles for developing new partnership perspectives in the church and seminary; and that interaction developed within the process can have transforming effects upon relationships within the church, and can assist in refocusing the sense of calling for clergy, seminarians and laity. It can also lead to the mobilizing of dormant personnel resources for the church and seminary.
