  • After examining some metaphors for explaining the relationship of culture and gospel in America, this project claims 'exile' as the defining one for ministry today. It examines the life of the people of Israel during the Babylonian Exile for clues as to how we are to do ministry and how we are to live a life of faith in 'exilic' times. In examining the Babylonian Exile the project discovers the importance of rituals. After studying how rituals have meaning, the project proposes a renewal of interest in rituals and suggests some rituals that may sustain and create faith today.
