Sermon preparation can be done efficiently and effectively if certain common principles utilized by excellent preachers are discovered and used. This project presents an efficient and effective methodology for the mid-sized pastorate based upon five principles discerned by the researcher from studying the preparation process of fifteen pastors who were identified as excellent preachers. Ethnographic research was employed for the project and included a survey, interviews, a peer panel and self-testing of the methods. This methodology proved useful in the testing that was done.
