- Abstract
- The supervisors of summer missionaries are leaders. Two models of leadership were selected for this project. The situational leadership model of Paul Hersey and Kenneth H Blanchard introduced the concept of adapting leadership styles to the needs of the individual student and the demands of the situation. Ernest O White's model introduced the skills of planning and organization as theyrelate to leadership. Nine supervisors were trained to implement the concepts and skills of this project. The effects of this training was measured with questionnaires given to the students and the supervisors of the project group. The students also answered the Occupational Roles Questionnaire (Osipow and Spokane). The project was successful in equipping the supervisors to more effectively utilize the student workers.
