  • Michael Green identified eight characteristics of the early church which contributed to its effectiveness. The project-thesis explores the presence of these characteristics in a Connecticut Congregational church. A biblical and historical review establishes the characteristics' validity. A literature review shows these characteristics' presence in historical Christian renewal movements. To see if these characteristics are present in the ministry setting, a diagnostic tool is developed and administered to a sample of church leaders, identifying three leverage points. Programs and system changes are designed and implemented to strengthen these areas. The results of those efforts are then evaluated and future recommendations made.
