  • The act of remembering is important in spiritual life, especially in celebrating the Lord's Supper. Yet there are many participants who can no longer remember as they used to, due to the onset of Alzheimer's disease or some other form of dementia. The author argues that the Lord's Supper, when it is understood and practiced in line with the Reformed theology of John Calvin and John Williamson Nevin, can be a source of life to those whose memories have begun to decline. Special attention is given to the congregation as a eucharistic community that includes all who are baptized.
