The purpose of this paper is to show glimpses of the history of Friendship Baptist Church's 141-year existence in Southwest Washington, D. C. Overlays of comparisons and contrasts with Jesus' command to remember his life, death, and second coming in the form of Communion and the Resurrection are shown as meeting place at the Cross. From the readings and documents, readers will gain a sense of the relevancy of Friendship to the community, city, and world. These glimpses are a means of passing along the history and future hopes to both the young and the seasoned members of the church. It is a document that can be used to research, explore, preach, teach and more extensively tell how Friendship survived 141 years by telling the story of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection to its congregants and the world beyond.
