Abstracto

This project proposes a definition of 'pastoral authority' and a basis for the right use of such authority in the office of the parish pastor, drawing on the scriptural and confessional foundations of pastoral authority and discussions with a local board of elders, constitution committee, and Bible study groups. The project responds to challenges to pastoral authority produced by changes in society, misuse and abuse of authority in the pastoral office, and changes in pastoral roles in local congregations.
