  • The Chrysalis Community Program is a three-month multi-faith spiritual development project for thirty-two women incarcerated at the York Correctional Institution, Niantic, Connecticut. The program is designed to help the women find ways to break out of their past lifestyles and to substantially transform their spirituality and orientation to life. Thirty-two women -- Roman Catholic, Protestant, Wiccan, Muslim, Native American -- completed the first module. The Chrysalis Community Program is not a basic religious education program, but an attempt to provide an inclusive spiritual development, gender-responsive program for female inmates to deal with the issues that underlie their addiction and their incarceration.
