Abstract
  • This dissertation researches ways in which fathers transmit their personal, Christian faith to their sons. It surveys the faith stories of seven evangelical leaders and their sons from the mid-twentieth century to the present. It also surveys the canon of scripture to see how the baton of faith is passed or not passed from fathers to sons. Using an author-developed questionaire, the seven case studies were evaluated in the areas of conversion experience, subsequent challenges to faith, and relationship between fathers and sons. In addition this research examines father/son relationships through the entire canon of scripture. Research conclusions are embodied in twenty principles of biblically, authentic fathers based on the empirical case studies and scripture.
