- There are distinctive commonalities in the conversions of those raised in distinctly un-churched home environments and understanding then is key in helping local churches be more evangelistically effective. This project consisted of a major survey of 3044 evangelical believers regarding their background and conversion, and forty-seven in-depth interviews with evangelical believers who were raised exclusively in un-churched homes. The key conclusion of the research is that when the un-churched turn to God in enduring faith it is almost always in the midst of some unresolved personal dissonance often precipitated by a major crisis or transition.
